"Virtual" or "Substitute" Account Numbers

To help protect its members from fraud, Chase Bank uses "substitute account numbers" when providing your bank account information to some authorized third parties. Substitute account numbers only work with a designated third party.

Gusto

If you connected Chase to Gusto, do not be alarmed if, when logging into Gusto, you notice that your Chase account number displays something different than expected. When you connected your Chase account to Gusto, Plaid acted as the "Data Access Provider." Chase provided Plaid with a "substitute account number" that only works with Gusto, and Plaid shared that info with Gusto.
