How to share Collective, earn commission, and gift your network one month free

Running a business can get lonely; but with the right community, it doesn’t have to. Our Member Referral program is built to provide you support beyond the tax and accounting services that are the pillar of your membership. Our program is built to represent the value we place on you, your business, and your network.

Getting started

Through the Member Referral program, Collective members earn $600 cash for every new member who joins using their code. We make it easy: when you first join, a promo code and custom link are automatically generated using your first and last name.

You’re sent a welcome email from “The Collective Community Team”. This email provides log in instructions, including a temporary password to access your dedicated referral space at refer.collective.com/login.

In short, the answer to “how do I sign up” is you don’t! It all happens automatically.

Earning commission

Share your promo code and/or custom link with your network. When they complete their call with an Advisor, they’ll receive a link to join Collective. After creating a password for their account, they’ll be directed to a payment page. That page has a field for a promo code.

Once they enter that code, our system automatically credits you within the Referral platform for your $600 commission – with no cap on earnings – and they receive their first month entirely free as a gift from you to them.

Receiving commission payments

There are three stages in the commission payment process:

  1. Awaiting approval

  2. Awaiting payout

  3. Paid

Commissions are paid via PayPal.

Once a commission is earned, you’ll receive an email notification to the email address associated with the referral platform. A PayPal email address within the platform is required for the commission payment to move past the Awaiting Approval stage.

Having your PayPal email address in the platform ahead of earning commission means your commission gets approved faster, and, potentially, your payout.

To get the process started, log into the platform at refer.collective.com/login and add your PayPal email address to your account.

Once added, and a commission is approved, it can take up to 30 days to receive payment.

Changing your promo code

The referral platform allows you to customize your code if you don’t want it to default to your first and last name. Simply log in at refer.collective.com/login and select the pencil icon in the top right corner.

Determine the promo code you would like to use. But keep in mind it is case sensitive. Your referrals will have to type it in exactly for it to work at checkout.

Sharing your promo code

There are multiple ways to share with your network, gift the one month free, and earn commission. Your network can schedule a call using the form at collective.com. This form will collect information about their business in preparation for an introductory call with one of our Advisors.

This same form also lives on the page your custom link directs to. You can share that link with your network. Once they fill it out, they will be prompted to schedule a call.

There are some types of businesses Collective doesn’t currently serve. The information they provide on the form will help determine that. What’s provided on the form may indicate that we aren’t the best fit to support them; however, a member of our team may reach out to verify.

Make sure they have your promo code. Once they complete their call with an Advisor and receive a link to join, they’ll be prompted to input that code. Once inputted, they’ll receive one month free – and our system will indicate we owe you your commission.

Trouble logging in

The email you use to log in is the email you used to pay for your first month. If you missed the welcome email with your temporary password, go to refer.collective.com/login and select Forgot your password?.

This will reset your temporary password, sending you email instructions on how to log in.

My friend forgot to use my code

These things happen and it’s no problem. Ideally, reach out and notify us the same month they join.

We recognize that isn’t always possible. If one of your friends joins and forgets to use your code at checkout, reach out to [email protected] with their first and last name and the email they used at checkout if you have it.

Scenarios where commissions may not apply

There are a few instances where you may not receive a commission for members you referred. You may not receive a commission when:

Another code was used

Sometimes, your friends know multiple people who are members of Collective.

If one of your referrals already used someone else’s code at checkout, we may not be able to credit you for that referral. We still encourage you to reach out, so we can look into it.

Your friend cancels their membership within 30 days

Your friend may decide to cancel their membership. Should they cancel within 30 days of joining, your commission will not be paid.

You’re in violation of our terms and conditions

To maintain the health and reputation of the Collective brand and the Member Referral program, we have outlined terms and conditions that guide participation and expectations.

There are activities that are not allowed within the program. You can find our terms and conditions that govern the program here.

These restrictions, or prohibited activities, include:

  • Running social media ads, paid search and Google display ads regarding Collective’s services without prior approval.

  • Using traffic generated by Google PPC (pay per click) and search ads.

  • Using search terms ‘Collective promo code’, ‘Collective discount code’,‘Collective coupon code’, ‘Collective tax reviews’, and ‘Collective s corp review’ in the title, URL, and meta description of website pages, without prior approval.

  • Posting your share link or promo code to Collective’s social media accounts.

  • We've added some rules that require adherence to CAN-SPAM laws when using email and encourage avoiding any misleading claims about Collective.

We’ll reach out to you if we notice activities that don’t align with our terms and conditions and request changes. If changes aren’t made, we’ll suspend commission payments.
