Your Collective payroll dashboard is built around the things you do most: running payroll, managing your team, and paying yourself a reasonable salary, meaning pay in line with what similar businesses pay for similar work. Each has its own page, so you can see what's coming up, where you stand for the year, and what needs your attention, then act on it in a few steps.
Payroll is part of the S Corp tier membership.
What you can do
- Your next payroll, front and center. The Overview page shows your upcoming pay period, the date to run by, your pay day, and who's being paid. Review and submit it in two steps, or turn on AutoPayroll and let it run each pay period. Any late or upcoming payrolls are listed right below it, each with its own Run button.
- Your year at a glance. Year-to-date totals for salary, contractor pay, taxes, and benefits sit on the Overview page, along with Payroll activity, a running list of your payrolls and their status.
- Your whole team in one place. My team brings employees and contractors together on separate tabs. From there you can invite new people to enter their own details, pay contractors, and open anyone's profile, compensation, tax withholding, bank account, paystubs, and documents.
- Your salary, tracked against your goal. My compensation shows your compensation plan for the year, what you've paid yourself so far, and whether you're on track. If you fall behind, Catch up starts an off-cycle payroll so you can pay yourself the difference. When your revenue changes, Update recalculates your recommended range and shows exactly what will change before you confirm.
- Off-cycle payroll on your terms. Start one from the Quick actions card, choose who to include and whether regular deductions apply, and review the tax withholding rates before you run it.
- All your payroll documents in one list. Anything that needs your signature sits at the top of Payroll documents, ready to sign, with the rest of your authorizations and tax forms below.

How payroll works behind the scenes
Collective Payroll processes your payroll and files your federal and state payroll tax returns. Your team is paid on your pay schedule, and their year-end tax forms are prepared for you. Running payroll on a regular schedule matters. The IRS expects S Corp owners who work in their business to pay themselves a reasonable salary, and paying it consistently can help keep your S Corp in good standing.
